Leona enjoyed an outstanding career as a respected business woman in Parma as owner of Dwyer’s Baby Furnishings, later known as Baby Talk.  She is fondly remembered by many in Parma and surrounding communities as the wonderful lady who helped them get fitted for shoes, pick out first communion clothing, or get a school uniform.  Many also remembered her for the help she provided at that special time when they were going to become parents and needed to pick out furniture for their baby’s nursery. She was more than a respected business woman; she was a friend to many in the Parma community during the four decades she had that special store at the corner of Pearl and Ridge that she opened with her husband John in 1944.  She would always make you feel special and was truly a guiding light.

  4. I have fond memories, of visiting my Aunt Leona & Uncle Jack’s store and their home in Parma. Aunt Leona was always a welcoming, smiling great-aunt who will always be remembered fondly. She’s a beautiful woman who will be welcomed into heaven with open arms. With joy and sadness, you will be missed! Love, Lauri and Eric.

p.s. I will always treasure the memory of her 93rd birthday celebration at the family reunion when we were gathering around her to sing happy birthday and she found a dime-as if her father sent it to her! Maybe he was letting her know he’d be seeing her soon! <3

  5. Aunt Leona’s smile warmed our hearts. It was exciting to go visit her as she was always happy and glad to see me and my parents, Charlotte and Bernard Hannan. She’d be with customers and we’d wait for her to close the store and go in the house to enjoy a visit. She would pull together a dinner. She was very giving. It sure meant a lot when she visited us as she didn’t break away from the store that often. My Mom, (Charlotte) was thrilled to have Aunt Leona as her Maid of Honor. My Dad (Bernard) was very proud. They all had good times, in there day. Now there really celebrating in Heaven as the siblings are all together . Our Love and Prayers are with all of you. Aunt Leona will be missed and her Spirit remains with us. Thanks for the memories Aunt Leona. Love, Bernadette, Scott, Marjorie & Michael Anderson
