George W. SMITH, age 101, retired Cleveland Policeman. Beloved husband of the late Beatrice (nee Beaton) formerly of London, Ontario, Canada. George passed on Apr. 25. Son of the late Frank and Josephine Smith (nee Mirka) and brother of Charlotte Burke (deceased), Frances Kearsey (decd.), Dorothy Zemaitis, Clara, Edward (decd.), and Bede Hurley. Dearest father of George (Theresa), James (Grace), Loretta Petrovich (Joseph), Lawrence (Joan), Frank (Peggy) and Margaret Johnson (Bruce). Dear grandfather of 18, great grandfather of 21 and great great grandfather of 6. George attained the position of deputy inspector in the Cleveland Police Department. After 38 years on the force he retired to Tarpon Springs FL for 21 years. He and Beatrice returned to Cleveland for the last 14 years. He was active in Knights of Columbus Council #733 and co-founder of Cathedral Latin FLA Alumni Assoc.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you on the loss of your Father.
Condolences on the loss of your father. He and I both belonged to
Cleveland Council Knights of Columbus, No. 733, now in its 112th
year. At one time we had many police officers, judges, even the
governor (Voinovich) and had over one thousand members.
I would from time to time call your father after he returned from
Florida. Again my condolences on his passing.
