Sandor was born January 14, 1926 in Tet, Hungary.  He had a brother, Desi (Dezsö.)  His parents were successful farmers. As a 14 year old boy in Hungary, he learned to fly gliders that boys would pull on a rope and launch off a hillside. He graduated from Gymnasium (similar to US high school), then attended a technical school in Romania. He escaped Hungary after World War II, eventually settling in Cleveland, OH, added English to the several languages he spoke, studied, and became a naturalized U.S. citizen. He married Ilse Priks in 1955.  They were married for 20 years, raising two daughters, Ingrid and Linda.  They lived first in Cleveland, then moved to 2740 Royalwood Road, Broadview Hts., OH and he stayed there until going into a nursing home. He worked for many years at Republic Steel, which became LTV, eventually becoming a line engineer.  In addition, he worked as an automobile mechanic and as a drummer in a dance band.  In addition to being a percussionist, he played other instruments, including accordion, and saxophone. He was an avid amateur pilot of powered aircraft and gliders, worked as a tow plane operator, and was a licensed aircraft and air frame mechanic. He flied around U.S. and Europe to visit friends, and annually to Oshkosh, WI for the  Experimental Aircraft Association convention and air show. He attended the Hungarian Lutheran Church in Cleveland. In his later years he was watched over by his guardian, Colleen Nehoda, and moved first to Kemper House, Strongsville, OH, then Pleasantview Nursing Home, Parma, OH.  He died there on July 3, 2016.
