ULICNY, Edith B.

Edith B. ULICNY (nee Toth), was born 2/20/1921 in Lakewood, OH and passed away peacefully at the age of 99 on 4/20/2020.

She was a lifelong resident of Parma OH. Edith is survived by her 4 children, Jack of Parma, Kenneth (Marlene) of Elyria, Christine Hogan (Jim) of Mentor and Mary Jane Shepard (Richard) of Rock Hill SC. Beloved grandmother of 5, great-grandmother of 15. Dear sister of the late John Toth Jr. (Marion, deceased). Edith was loved by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Graduation from Parma Sr. High in 1939 was followed by her marriage to Andrew Ulicny on 6/7/1941. They were married for 39 years. She was an accomplished seamstress and her late husband an expert tailor. As a lifetime member of St. Francis DeSales Church she was active in the Senior Group. Edith enjoyed traveling all over the US, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. Fueled by her love of sewing, Edith became an expert quilter. She gifted many of her quilts to her children and grandchildren as memories of her. Edith had many other talents and hobbies. For decades she enjoyed swimming at the YMCA for exercise and practiced the art of Tai Chi. She liked to play cards, bingo and going to casinos. In Sept. 2018, Edith moved to assisted living at Mt. Alverna Village in Parma.

  1. My name is Hien Le, a good friend of David Shepherd who is Ms. Mary Jane’s son. I somehow became your “adopted” grandchild through the years, which I really appreciated that.
    I will definitely miss you grandma and I am sure all of us will miss you too. Annabel and Alwin always keep the pillows you made for them since they were born.
