PETRUZZI, SR, Reverend Joseph

Date of Death - December 01, 2022

Reverend Joseph Petruzzi Sr. went home to his final resting place in heaven; Under the care of Serenity Hospice at his most recent residence of Pearlview Rehabilitation and Wellness Center he took his final breath on December 1 st , 2022. Joseph is preceded to heaven by his father, John Petruzzi and his mother, Donetta Petruzzi (Florio). Joseph has been reunited with his first love and wife, the late Lucy Guida Petruzzi (Panzanella). He leaves behind the late Linda L. Rocha (William); Sharon Balogh (Reverend Ray);the late Joseph Petruzzi Jr.; Julia Petruzzi, the late Jack and Lucy Nofel and Anthony Petruzzi. Joseph, lovingly known as Papa, was a grandfather and great grandfather to many and an Uncle Joe and GreatUncle Joe to many nieces and nephews.

Joseph served in the United States Army as a truck driver and an expert rifleman. After his time of service, Joseph worked in different roles from real estate to preparing taxes for H&R Block, and eventually joined White Motors as an arc welder, where he retired after 35 years.

Lucy and Joseph raised six children together and began “The Singing Petruzzi’s” ministry in traveling, singing and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ traveling to many churches, community settings in the Cleveland and surrounding areas as well as out of state for many, many years. Their ministry continued even as the children all grew and had families of their own, gathering together and being guests at many church services. Joseph and Lucy moved to Florida with their youngest son, Anthony. Even after, Joseph continued to minister to the community with his accordion and the gospel message. After his Lucy passed away, Papa came back home to Ohio and continued to minister and sing whenever he could, starting a new journey in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ in nursing homes and churches.

Alzheimer’s may have taken his earthly body, changed relationships and affected the memories he had of his family and friends, but the love for his family and the Lord was always evident until his final breath.
