Eleanor M. SPERRY (nee Daffner), age 98, was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Bryan. She is survived by her sons Bryan (Cheryl) of Haines City Florida and William (Laurine) of North Royalton Ohio, 4 grandchildren; Bryan, John (Melissa), Christopher and Ashley (Yaza), and 2 great grandchildren, Landon and Zayn.
Eleanor was a registered nurse graduate of St. John’s Hospital School of Nursing and also a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corp during WWII. Over the years she worked as a registered nurse at St. John, Marymount and Deaconess Hospitals. In 1954 along with working as a nurse she worked with her husband as a bookkeeper when he opened D&S Color Supply on Lorain Ave, an automotive paint and body shop supplier. The business grew after adding Marine and Industrial paints and moved to larger quarters in Middleburg Heights under the direction of William until 2015. Eleanor was very proud of starting a business.
She and her husband moved to 40 acres in Rootstown. She was active with Tuesday Homemakers, New Roots Garden Club and Portage County Gardeners. After her husband’s death she moved to Broadview Heights to be nearer to her son.
Everyday she was thankful to God for creating the beauty surrounding her in nature. She enjoyed her family, her pets, wildlife, working in her garden and being outdoors.
In lieu of flowers, simply light a candle and say a prayer at church for her. The family is very thankful for the excellent care she received in her final days at Holy Family Hospice Care in Parma.
A Graveside Service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brookpark, on Friday, June 9, 11:00 AM. Arrangements by The Zabor Funeral Home, Parma.
